وَلَمْ تَكُن لَّهُۥ فِئَةٌۭ يَنصُرُونَهُۥ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا كَانَ مُنتَصِرًا

English: He had no forces to help him other than God- he could not even help himself.

Bengali: আল্লাহ ব্যতীত তাকে সাহায্য করার কোন লোক হল না এবং সে নিজেও প্রতিকার করতে পারল না।

Meaning & Reflection

'And there was no party to help him besides God, nor could he defend himself.' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note the sudden isolation — the man who boasted of being 'mightier in men' now has no 'fi'a', no group, no ally, and cannot even help himself. His manpower evaporated the moment he actually needed it. Ask yourself: the very thing he bragged about — his numbers, his network, his influence — proved useless at the point of real need. I too can accumulate 'men' — connections, followers, allies — and imagine they are my security. This verse shows how instantly such backing vanishes when God's decree arrives: no party, no defender, not even oneself. When the real test comes, who will actually stand for me? The verse warns that every helper besides God is fair-weather — present in the boast, absent in the collapse.
