سُورَةُ البَقَرَةِ · Medinan · Verse 143 of 286
وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَٰكُمْ أُمَّةًۭ وَسَطًۭا لِّتَكُونُوا۟ شُهَدَآءَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدًۭا ۗ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا ٱلْقِبْلَةَ ٱلَّتِى كُنتَ عَلَيْهَآ إِلَّا لِنَعْلَمَ مَن يَتَّبِعُ ٱلرَّسُولَ مِمَّن يَنقَلِبُ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ ۚ وَإِن كَانَتْ لَكَبِيرَةً إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ ۗ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَٰنَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِٱلنَّاسِ لَرَءُوفٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ
English: We have made you [believers] into a just community, so that you may bear witness [to the truth] before others and so that the Messenger may bear witness [to it] before you. We only made the direction the one you used to face [Prophet] in order to distinguish those who follow the Messenger from those who turn on their heels: that test was hard, except for those God has guided. God would never let your faith go to waste [believers], for God is most compassionate and most merciful towards people.
Bengali: এমনিভাবে আমি তোমাদেরকে মধ্যপন্থী সম্প্রদায় করেছি যাতে করে তোমরা সাক্ষ্যদাতা হও মানবমন্ডলীর জন্যে এবং যাতে রসূল সাক্ষ্যদাতা হন তোমাদের জন্য। আপনি যে কেবলার উপর ছিলেন, তাকে আমি এজন্যই কেবলা করেছিলাম, যাতে একথা প্রতীয়মান হয় যে, কে রসূলের অনুসারী থাকে আর কে পিঠটান দেয়। নিশ্চিতই এটা কঠোরতর বিষয়, কিন্তু তাদের জন্যে নয়, যাদেরকে আল্লাহ পথপ্রদর্শন করেছেন। আল্লাহ এমন নন যে, তোমাদের ঈমান নষ্ট করে দেবেন। নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ, মানুষের প্রতি অত্যন্ত স্নেহশীল, করুনাময়।
