Surah Al-Baqara 2:234 — Meaning, Translation & Reflection

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُتَوَفَّوْنَ مِنكُمْ وَيَذَرُونَ أَزْوَٰجًۭا يَتَرَبَّصْنَ بِأَنفُسِهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍۢ وَعَشْرًۭا ۖ فَإِذَا بَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِيمَا فَعَلْنَ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌۭ

English: If any of you die and leave widows, the widows should wait for four months and ten nights before remarrying. When they have completed this set time, you will not be blamed for anything they may reasonably choose to do with themselves. God is fully aware of what you do.

Bengali: আর তোমাদের মধ্যে যারা মৃত্যুবরণ করবে এবং নিজেদের স্ত্রীদেরকে ছেড়ে যাবে, তখন সে স্ত্রীদের কর্তব্য হলো নিজেকে চার মাস দশ দিন পর্যন্ত অপেক্ষা করিয়ে রাখা। তারপর যখন ইদ্দত পূর্ণ করে নেবে, তখন নিজের ব্যাপারে নীতি সঙ্গত ব্যবস্থা নিলে কোন পাপ নেই। আর তোমাদের যাবতীয় কাজের ব্যাপারেই আল্লাহর অবগতি রয়েছে।
