ٱلَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّهُم مُّلَٰقُوا۟ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِ رَٰجِعُونَ

English: who know that they will meet their Lord and that it is to Him they will return.

Bengali: যারা একথা খেয়াল করে যে, তাদেরকে সম্মুখীন হতে হবে স্বীয় পরওয়ারদেগারের এবং তাঁরই দিকে ফিরে যেতে হবে।

Meaning & Reflection

'Who are certain that they will meet their Lord and that to Him they will return.' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note what makes patience and prayer 'light' for the humble — their *certainty* ('yazunnun' here in the sense of firm conviction) of *meeting* God and returning to Him: the awareness of the destination transforms the endurance of the journey. Ask yourself: patience and prayer become bearable, even sweet, for those who are sure they are heading toward a meeting with their Lord. The endurance is easy when the reunion is certain. So much of my impatience and prayerlessness traces back to a *dim* sense of that meeting — I half-believe in the destination, so I resent the road. It presses me: the cure for a heavy spiritual life is not more willpower but a *sharper certainty* of where I'm going. How real to me is the meeting with my Lord — and would strengthening that certainty lighten everything else?
