'Pure companions, reserved in pavilions.' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note 'maqsurat fi-l-khiyam' — kept, honoured, dwelling in their own pavilions: an image of protected preciousness, dignity, and belonging, not exposure. Ask yourself: this world tends to strip privacy and dignity, to put everything on display, to treat concealment as loss. The verse honours the *reserved*, the protected, the not-for-public — presenting modesty and shelteredness as marks of worth, not restriction. It quietly challenges my instinct to expose and be exposed. Where might guarding something — my attention, my relationships, my inner life — from constant public display be an act of honouring it, the way these companions are honoured in their pavilions?
