Surah Al-Waaqia 56:57 — Meaning, Translation & Reflection

نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ

English: It was We who created you: will you not believe?

Bengali: আমি সৃষ্টি করেছি তোমাদেরকে। অতঃপর কেন তোমরা তা সত্য বলে বিশ্বাস কর না।

Meaning & Reflection

'It is We who created you — so why do you not affirm the truth?' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note the pivot from scenes of the hereafter to a direct argument: the God who made you from nothing the first time is obviously able to remake you — so your own creation is the proof of your resurrection, if you would only accept it. Ask yourself: I doubt renewal — the resurrection, but also whether my dead heart or broken situation could ever come back to life — as if a second making were harder than the first. This verse points to the evidence I *am*: I was created from nothing, and here I stand. The One who managed that finds re-creating me trivial. Why do I withhold belief from the very Power whose handiwork I plainly am?
