Surah Al-Waaqia 56:91 — Meaning, Translation & Reflection

فَسَلَٰمٌۭ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ

English: [he will hear], ‘Peace be on you,’ from his companions on the Right;

Bengali: তবে তাকে বলা হবেঃ তোমার জন্যে ডানপার্শ্বসস্থদের পক্ষ থেকে সালাম।

Meaning & Reflection

'...then peace for you from the companions of the right.' Ibn Ashur and al-Biqa'i note the greeting that meets the right-hand soul at death — 'salamun laka': peace be upon you, a welcome and reassurance from their own kind, a homecoming into a company of the saved. Ask yourself: what greets the ordinary faithful at the threshold is *peace* and *belonging* — not the terror of the lost, but the calm of arriving among one's own. It answers a deep human fear of dying as a stranger, unwelcomed. For the people of the right, death is a reunion, met with 'peace'. And it hints at what to build toward now: the community of the right hand is entered by living, here, among and like the people of peace. Am I walking with, and becoming, the kind of soul that will one day be greeted with 'salam' on the other side?
