Meaning & Reflection
'The one who whispers in the chests of mankind.' al-Biqa'i notes the target: the sadr (chest) is the antechamber of the heart, the doorway through which incoming thoughts pass — so the whisper is planted right at the threshold, quiet and repeated, until its meaning arrives without a sound even being heard. That is its danger: it is soft, wordless, and it wears your own voice, so you mistake the suggestion for your own thought. Ask yourself: how many 'my own' thoughts — the self-doubt, the resentment, the 'what's the point' — might actually be a whisper planted at the door of my heart? And would naming it as a whisper, rather than as me, loosen its grip?
