Surah An-Naas 114:6 — Meaning, Translation & Reflection

سُورَةُ النَّاسِ · Meccan · Verse 6 of 6

مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ

English: whether they be jinn or people.’

Bengali: জ্বিনের মধ্য থেকে অথবা মানুষের মধ্য থেকে।

Meaning & Reflection

The Qur'an's very last words name the two sources of the whisper: 'from among the jinn and mankind.' al-Razi and Ibn Kathir stress the second half — there are human whisperers too, the 'friend' who plants a doubt while posing as a sincere adviser, casting suspicion without ever raising his voice. And there is a quiet majesty in where the whole Qur'an ends: al-Biqa'i shows the circle closing — the Book that opened by begging 'guide us to the straight path' ends by guarding the heart that walks it. Ask yourself: whose 'advice' consistently leaves my faith weaker, my heart more cynical, my certainty shaken? The last verse warns that not every whisper comes from the unseen — some sit across the table from me.

Grounded in classical tafsir: al-Razi, Ibn Kathir, al-Biqa'i.
