وَسَوَآءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَأَنذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنذِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
English: It is all the same to them whether you warn them or not: they will not believe.
Bengali: আপনি তাদেরকে সতর্ক করুন বা না করুন, তাদের পক্ষে দুয়েই সমান; তারা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করবে না।
Meaning & Reflection
'It is the same to them whether you warn them or not — they will not believe.' al-Razi catches a precise mercy in the wording: the verse says it is the same *to them*, not the same *for you*. For a heart fully sealed, the warning and its absence land identically — but the one who warns is never released from the duty, and never loses the reward, regardless of the response. Ask yourself: I get discouraged when my efforts to do or say the right thing seem to change nothing in others. This verse gently separates two things — their response, which is not in my hands, and my responsibility, which is. Am I measuring my worth by outcomes I was never assigned to control?
