وَمَا عَلَيْنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
English: Our duty is only to deliver the message to you,’

Meaning & Reflection
'And our duty is only to convey clearly.' Ibn Ashur highlights how this defines — and limits — their task: al-balagh al-mubin, clear delivery. Their responsibility ends at conveying the message plainly; the response belongs to Allah and to the hearer. al-Saadi notes this frees the messenger from carrying what was never his to carry. Ask yourself: I often take on the whole weight of an outcome — did they change, did it work, did they finally understand? This verse draws a clean line: convey clearly and kindly, then release the result. Where am I crushing myself under a responsibility for other people's hearts that Allah never placed on me?
