إِنَّ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ٱلْيَوْمَ فِى شُغُلٍۢ فَٰكِهُونَ
English: The people of Paradise today are happily occupied-
Bengali: এদিন জান্নাতীরা আনন্দে মশগুল থাকবে।
Meaning & Reflection
'Indeed, the companions of Paradise, that Day, are joyfully occupied.' Ibn Ashur and al-Biqa'i dwell on 'fi shughulin fakihun' — busy, absorbed, delighting: a joy so full and engrossing that it leaves no room in the heart for regret, comparison, or even a thought of anyone else's fate. Ask yourself: even my happiest moments here are shadowed — by what I lack, by what others have, by the fear it will end. This verse describes a joy with no shadow, a heart wholly *occupied* by good with nothing left over for ache. What in me is always half-distracted from the good I do have — and what would it mean to taste, even here, a gratitude so full it crowds out the comparing?
