هَٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ
English: So this is the Fire that you were warned against.

Meaning & Reflection
'This is Hell, which you were promised.' al-Saadi and Ibn Kathir note the plainness: the very thing dismissed as a distant threat is now presented, present-tense — 'this is it.' The promise mocked as unreal becomes a fact pointed at. Ask yourself: I keep certain truths at a comfortable distance by calling them exaggerations, metaphors, threats that surely won't apply to me. This verse collapses that distance into a single word: 'this'. What am I currently treating as an abstract, someday warning that this verse insists will one day simply be shown to me — no longer a promise, but a place?
