لَقَدْ حَقَّ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَىٰٓ أَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
English: The verdict has been passed against most of them, for they refuse to believe.
Bengali: তাদের অধিকাংশের জন্যে শাস্তির বিষয় অবধারিত হয়েছে। সুতরাং তারা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করবে না।
Meaning & Reflection
'The word has come true against most of them, so they will not believe.' al-Biqa'i names the mechanism with a striking proverb: long familiarity with something breeds attachment, and 'your love of a thing blinds and deafens you.' They did not start blind; they grew blind by living so long with falsehood that they could no longer see past it. al-Saadi notes the sealing came only *after* the truth was shown and refused. Ask yourself: what have I lived alongside for so long — a habit, a grudge, a comfortable assumption — that I've simply stopped seeing clearly? This verse warns that the real danger isn't rejecting truth once, but growing so attached to its opposite that rejection becomes automatic.
