Surah Al-Waaqia 56:34 — Meaning, Translation & Reflection

سُورَةُ الوَاقِعَةِ · Meccan · Verse 34 of 96

وَفُرُشٍۢ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ

English: with incomparable companions

Bengali: আর থাকবে সমুন্নত শয্যায়।

Meaning & Reflection

'And raised couches.' al-Saadi and Ibn Ashur note 'furushin marfu'a' — elevated, honoured seats of rest, dignity and repose lifted high. Ask yourself: elevation here signals honour and ease — to be *raised* is to be dignified, at rest, no longer struggling at ground level. The whole striving life of the believer culminates not in more striving but in this honoured rest. It is a promise to everyone who feels perpetually low, overlooked, ground down: a raising is coming. The world's rankings may keep me down; this verse fixes my gaze on a different elevation, earned not by climbing over others but by faithfulness. Where do I feel most 'low' — and does it change things to know that the true raising is His to give, and is kept for the faithful?

Grounded in classical tafsir: al-Saadi, Ibn Ashur, al-Biqa'i.
