سُورَةُ المُلۡكِ · Meccan · Verse 11 of 30
فَٱعْتَرَفُوا۟ بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسُحْقًۭا لِّأَصْحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ
English: they will confess their sins. Away with the inhabitants of the blazing fire!
Bengali: অতঃপর তারা তাদের অপরাধ স্বীকার করবে। জাহান্নামীরা দূর হোক।
Meaning & Reflection
'So they will confess their sin — away with the people of the Fire.' Ibn Ashur notes the confession comes now only to condemn them: the very admission that would have saved them in the world seals them here. Ibn Kathir cites the tradition that no one enters the Fire except knowing it was rightly deserved. Confession, in other words, has a season. Ask yourself: I know how to admit a fault when it is finally too costly to deny — after the damage, after I am caught. This verse asks for the earlier confession, the one made freely while it can still turn things around. What am I quietly refusing to admit to Allah now, that I would give anything to have admitted later?
