'As a reward for what they used to do.' al-Saadi and Ibn Ashur note the anchor dropped amid all the delight: 'jaza'an bima kanu ya'malun' — all of it is *recompense*, earned by a life of deeds, tied directly back to how they lived. Ask yourself: after verse upon verse of dazzling reward, this line quietly reconnects it all to *action* — none of it is arbitrary; every pleasure traces to a deed done back in the world. It refuses to let me daydream about the reward while ignoring the road to it. The Gardens are not a lottery; they are a harvest.
