Surah Al-Mulk 67:29 — Meaning, Translation & Reflection

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ

English: Say, ‘He is the Lord of Mercy; we believe in Him; we put our trust in Him. You will come to know in time who is in obvious error.’

Bengali: বলুন, তিনি পরম করুণাময়, আমরা তাতে বিশ্বাস রাখি এবং তাঁরই উপর ভরসা করি। সত্ত্বরই তোমরা জানতে পারবে, কে প্রকাশ্য পথ-ভ্রষ্টতায় আছে।

Meaning & Reflection

'Say: He is the Most Merciful; in Him we believe, and upon Him we rely — and you will come to know who is in clear error.' Ibn Ashur and al-Biqa'i note the believer's entire stance compressed into one line: faith in ar-Rahman, plus reliance (tawakkul) on Him — conviction wedded to dependence — and then a calm handing-over of the verdict: time and truth will sort who was astray. No argument, no anxiety, just belief, trust, and patience. Ask yourself: when I'm doubted or pressured about my faith, my instinct is to argue, defend, prove. This verse models something quieter and stronger — 'we believe in Him, we rely on Him, and the outcome will make things clear.' Could I hold my convictions with that much trust, and leave the final judgment to the One who actually issues it?
